THERAPY

Hyperbaric therapy, also known as mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT), is the therapeutic use of oxygen in a pressurized environment with a level greater than 1 atmosphere absolute (ATA).

This non-invasive therapy is the most reliable way to increase the levels of oxygen transported in the blood to all organs of the body.
The typical treatment lasts 60-90 minutes, during which the patient is breathing normally in an isolated and dedicated environment.

It has been shown in several clinical studies that mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy enhances the body's innate ability to repair and regenerate itself . It is therefore used as an adjunctive therapy to supplement and enhance the healing process in both conditions chronic That sharp .

Hyperbaric treatment is based on the concept of the relationship between gas pressure and absorption in liquids (blood, plasma and tissues).

Placing a subject in a hyperbaric environment at a pressure of 3 psi induces an increase in the partial pressure on the oxygen gas, therefore, leads to more oxygen being dissolved in the equivalent amount of plasma. This saturation of oxygen in the blood allows a lot of extra oxygen to be carried and diffused into body tissues and internal organs, including the brain.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is designed to increase oxygen delivery to ischemic tissue or diseased tissue that normally responds well to increased oxygen levels. Increasing the volume of dissolved oxygen in blood plasma has five basic effects:

  1. Reduction in the volume of gas bubbles in the blood
  2. Vasoconstriction, which reduces edema and secondary hypoxia
  3. Restoration of aerobic metabolism in ischemic tissue
  4. Detoxification of poisoned tissues
  5. Improved phagocytosis

The use of hyperbaric therapy is recommended for:

  • Rapid Recovery after Injury or Trauma
  • Pre and Post Medical and Dental Surgery
  • Peak Performance and/or Faster Recovery for Athletes
  • Adjuvant in some chronic and serious conditions (Autism, Lupus, MS, Lymes and more)

FREQUENT QUESTIONS:

Is the hyperbaric chamber safe?

Absolutely yes! The hyperbaric chamber uses compressed and filtered, conditioned and oxygenated air. Even with regular use, there is no risk of oxygen toxicity since we will reach a maximum saturation of 25% which can only be brought to 99% with the use of a personal mask.
Once inside the room it is possible to communicate both visually and verbally with the outside without any difficulty. Most people report a comfortable and very relaxing experience and leave the room feeling refreshed.
This therapy is non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical and there are no dangerous side effects.

Can children enter by themselves?

No! An adult must always accompany a child. It's a great time to get together and have adult/child bonding time through reading or playing games.

How long is a session?

A session usually lasts from 60 minutes to 90 minutes.

How often should I schedule my sessions?

A recommendation will be made based on your therapeutic needs and after an initial assessment of the required objectives.

What can I do during my hyperbaric session?

  • Listen to music or watch a movie on your PC or tablet
  • Use your cell phone without limits to call or text
  • Play handheld games or a mini-console
  • Read books or magazines even on digital readers
  • Sleep with tools for relaxation and/or sensory deprivation

What can I expect to happen during my session?

Before inflating, the chamber will appear smaller than it is when fully pressurized. Within one minute the chamber will fully inflate, leaving enough room for an adult to sit upright or lie flat. Once the chamber is inflated, it will begin to pressurize. This is when you might feel a little pressure in your ears. The simplest way to relieve any ear pain is a brief clearing by simply using one or more of the following methods:

  • Close your mouth and pinch your nose tightly with your fingers and thumb. Blow, as if you were blowing your nose, but still keeping your nose and mouth closed. When done correctly, you will feel air escaping through your ears and this should compensate for the pressure difference.
  • Or yawning and opening the mouth as much as possible, also stretching the tongue: the sinus passages surrounding the ears thus discharge the air, reducing the pressure differential.
  • Sit upright. Turn your head fully to the right, then fully to the left. Repeat the previous steps until the ears are free.

If you are the Parent of a small child who has ear problems during pressurization, you should massage the area just below the ears just behind the jaw.

Are there any side effects?

No dangerous side effects have been reported with mild hyperbaric therapy. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when preparing for your first session in a chamber:

  • Some people experience a slight discomfort in their ears when they try the camera but very similar to the sensation when landing on an airplane flight.
  • Some people experience a slight tiredness after their first few sessions as the body rids itself of the toxic elements that have built up in the body. This is a safe and necessary effect for the path of physical improvement.

Are there any other tips to improve the in-room experience?

It is always best to wear comfortable, loose clothing as tight clothing can contribute to the feeling of claustrophobia.

You should not drink large quantities of liquids before entering the chamber.

Do not use perfumes or colognes when you know you are in for a hyperbaric session.

Are there any reasons why a person shouldn't enter the chamber?

There are simple but specific restrictions on the use of the room. You should never enter if:

  • You are under the influence of alcohol or psychotropic drugs,
  • If you have serious problems with your ear canal, eardrum or if you have an ear infection
  • If you have flu or cold symptoms
  • If you have used perfume or cologne
